About me
I'm lazy, tired, and always snacking. I spend everything I earn, I'm very impulsive (check out my new puppy below), and I want to "get in shape" but I never will.
My Day-to-Day
We live on a small farm in Ohio with an ever-growing collection of farm animals to share our lives with. By day I'm a mom, by night I'm a registered nurse holding down the third shift.
Why I want to write
I've always enjoyed reading and had dreams of becoming an author. I would start writing a book, then let life get in the way...over and over again. I found success as a photojournalist for a time, short articles and the quick turn-around worked well for me, then life showed up and I hit pause...again.
With my kids now teens and young adults I have the time and the motivation to follow through. I have one book nearing completion and another in the works. In addition, writing Embarrassing Confessions for this site will be an on-going personal narrative updated regularly.
What is The Novel Rats LLC?
It started with one of my sons and his dream to create his own barbeque sauce. We started having our business meetings weekly at Taco Bell when the other kids were roller skating. I thought his ideas were great and when we tossed around possible LLC names The Novel Rats stuck–although now I'm not entirely sure why other than we both expressed a desire to write books, and who doesn't like rats.
Well, after more research we discovered that meeting food safety requirements is expensive. So, we opened an Etsy shop to sell t-shirts to help fund this venture (check out the link below). Not entirely sure why we choose this idea either. It's been painfully slow to get our shop going and noticed with the crazy algorithms. Ultimately, my son designed two hoodies and then slithered away. See if you can figure out which two were his creations. So, The Novel Rats may have taken a detour or two but we're still here!
